    The Director of Marketing will have direct oversight of sales, marketing and transportation activities and teams, for crude oil, gas and other by-products produced by the company. Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, and other members of the executive team, this leader will be charged with the development of a short-term and long-term marketing strategy for the Company’s production across all basins.

    The key components of the role will be to ensure that current markets are fully optimized; the Company’s net backs are optimized, new market opportunities are identified; that transportation avenues are open and cost effective; and that relationships with purchasers, whether transporters or end-users are developed, strengthened and maintained. As the primary interface to the market, the Director of Marketing will need to develop strong business partner relationships, both internally and externally.

    The Director of Marketing will be provided with the opportunity, and latitude, to develop a strategy and working plan for the marketing function. Critical to the company’s success, this individual will partner closely with senior leadership and the marketing team, to identify, anticipate, and address concerns and objectives for the company’s broader marketing plan.


    ? Establish business plans to optimize infrastructure assets, maximizing sales revenues consistent with corporate risk management policies.

    ? Develop regular reporting on commodity market fundamentals and their effects on operations

    ? Provide regular market updates to the CFO and collective leadership

    ? Develop price forecasts for all market areas for corporate economics and budgeting.

    ? Provide necessary price and marketing information necessary for regular financial and operating reports

    ? Foster team work while leveraging knowledge of the marketing area to assist other business functions

    ? Expand relationships across midstream, transportation and trading companies and assist in negotiating favorable terms for the spot and long-term market

    ? Develop, communicate, and maintain short and long-term oil and gas market knowledge and intelligence

    ? Interface with operating staff to ensure production forecasting and sales

    ? Assess market risks, provide risk management and mitigation strategies to leadership to optimize revenue and achieve cash flow targets

    ? Assist operating staff in identifying market options, when/if interruptions result in the potential for shut-in production

    ? Participate in key negotiations on sales, purchase and transportation arrangements with industry and financial stakeholders

    ? Provide input into, and execute, the corporate risk management program and related commodity hedging programs


    The Director of Marketing must have a broad understanding of the oil and gas business with strong strategic vision and insights into market trends and dynamics, transporting oil by trucks, crude by rail, infrastructure issues, and the regulatory environment.

    He/She will have relevant experience a proven track record of performance and relationships, within the oil & gas marketing community.

    ? Experienced negotiator; history of successfully executing oil and gas contract negotiations, optimizing price and terms, while minimizing risk

    ? Strong analytical mind with a fundamental market mindset

    ? Knowledge, experience, and practice of risk management best practices, including risk control systems

    ? Superior knowledge of and experience measuring, modeling, and managing market and operational risk

    ? Ability to lead the development of innovative marketing methodologies and standards within an operating oil & gas environment

    ? Ability to lead, direct and influence teams as well as collaborate with stakeholders across the organization and externally

    ? Collaborative, influential communicator, capable of working effectively across all levels of an organization. Ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and professionally – ability to challenge professionally, while remaining diplomatic, to work towards consensus

    ? Proven experience and strong reputation in oil and gas, displaying integrity, and a sense of urgency and the ability to make decisions and act quickly

    ? Strong analytical mind, able to integrate complex systems in ambiguous, uncertain, and/or shifting environments and market conditions

    ? Effective network across the broader energy industry, exhibiting the ability to leverage their network expediently and independently

    ? Superior knowledge of and experience measuring, modeling, and managing market and operational risk

    ? Ability to influence others to accept strategies and business direction that would be standards across the organization

    ? Ability to lead and direct teams, as well as, collaborate with stakeholders across the organization and externally

    ? Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to assess situations and anticipate potential outcomes

    ? Experience working across the upstream, midstream and marketing value chain


    ? Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related discipline, required

    ? Master’s/MBA degree, preferred
