Job Description

Provides expertise in support of research projects in social science, behavioral science, or humanities, including psychology, sociology, education, etc. Performs advanced testing procedures, data collection, and analysis. Prepares reports. May work with human subjects and contribute to grant proposal development. 

Ensures experiments are performed according to specifications. May make recommendations to changes in procedure, processes, or experimental design. May prepare and/or edit research papers, proposals and reports.

Understands and applies broad theoretical concepts. Develops understanding of relationships among differing fields of specialization. Develops leadership and management skills.

Duties:  Assignments are difficult and broad requiring originality and ingenuity. May be assisted by lower level personnel.

Supervision:   Receives minimal supervision conferring with higher levels only in usual situations.

This full-time position is to work at the Latino and Behavioral Health Research Team at the University of Houston in sponsored and non-sponsored projects in the areas of Latino health, tobacco cessation, and intervention research, particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. 

Direct supervisor: Dr. Virmarie Correa-Fernandez

Key responsibilities:
•Coordinate all day-to-day aspects and study timelines from start to finish, including working with internal personnel in the execution of the project, and with external research personnel or investigators in case of collaborations.
•Plan for and assign project tasks to lower level personnel
•Establish connections and partnerships with community organizations
•Coordinate meetings, develop meeting agendas and minutes
•Assist with grant development and manuscript production

Bachelor's Degree with 3 years experience.

•Fully bilingual in English and Spanish
•Strong communication skills, written and oral
•Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and collaborative
•Highly motivated and dynamic
•Excellent Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills
•Possess own vehicle

Preferred qualities:
•Interest and/or previous experience with community engagement
•Experience in IRB procedures
•Previous supervisory experience
