Job Description

The Graduate Enrollment Management Counselor is responsible for recruiting and counseling prospects, inquiries and applicants for the graduate programs. This position manages the prospect and/or inquiry through the funnel by developing strategies and communication plans. The Graduate Enrollment Management Counselor serves as the liaison between the college and the student as well as the university and targeted companies. Participates in the development of the graduate recruitment plan with the colleges.

Duties: 

Manages assigned college territory using data to track prospect and inquiry progress through the enrollment funnel. Develops communication (telephone calls, emails, social media, etc.) plans and strategies from an in-depth knowledge of target audience and program details to move the prospects and inquires through the student cycle. Participates in the development of the graduate recruitment plan and the execution of strategies.
  • Provides enrollment counseling to prospects, inquiries, and applicants and admits in Admissions, during off-campus and on-campus events. Serves as liaison for the applicant with the colleges and other departments to resolve issues. Works closely with faculty to stay abreast of changes in the industries and programs as well as understanding trends and developing action plans to include them.
  • Serves as corporate liaison between targeted companies and UHCL. Meets with appropriate company staff to market UHCL programs to their employees. Work with companies to place ads in the company newsletters and on their web sites. Manage relationships with targeted professional organizations.
  • Meet quarterly with the assigned college. Participates in development of the graduate recruitment plan. Submits monthly reports. Other duties as assigned.




Qualifications

Required:

1. Master's degree.

2. Four years of experience in college counseling, college recruiting or student service related area.

3. Ability to develop rapport and establish relationships with company and organizational representatives.

4. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing as well as interact with a broad range of clientele.

5. Must have a strong attention to detail when relaying information and developing communication. Most of the job is communicating to potential students.

6. Ability to meet deadlines by prioritizing and organizing work with little to no guidance.

7. Ability to be flexible and analytical to respond to varying situations.

8. Ability to work under pressure.

9. Must be a self-starter to effectively manage the territory.

10. Must be able to work extended hours or weekends during peak times and for special programs, project and events.

Desired:

Master's degree in counseling, student service related area or marketing.
