Job Description

Job Summary:

TPC Group is actively seeking a full time, permanent Occupational Health Specialist (OHS) for our Houston Operations Facility.   The successful candidate will be the front line of first aid, emergency treatment, occupational health, medical leave management, and wellness services provided to our employees in this location.  The OHS is responsible for the development, administration and implementation of occupational health and wellness services.  The OHS will manage programs, ensure compliance, and guarantee medical record confidentiality.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the delivery of all the occupational health programs
  • Ensures performance and services rendered by off-site medical clinic meet expectations and are compliant with TPC protocol
  • Establishes and maintains HIPAA compliant medical database of confidential employee health records
  • Participates in medical budget preparation
  • Medical Surveillance
  • DOT and Company programs for Random Drug and Alcohol Testing
  • Workers Compensation
  • STD/FMLA Case Management
  • Immunizations    
  • Health and Wellness education and activities
  • On-site minor illness/injury care

Education, Licensure, and Experience: 

  • Completion of an associate degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Possession of a current RN license in the State of Texas, current Occupational Health Nursing certificate preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial setting (manufacturing, refinery, chemical facilities, etc.) which includes experience in occupational health nursing
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification a plus

Role Specific Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health Nursing, emergency medical care, workers’ compensation system, FMLA, OSHA, DOT, and other state and federal regulations pertaining to environmental health and safety in the workplace, wellness program development and implementation
  • A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
  • Strong interpersonal skills and active listening ability
  • Time management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Professionalism and a high level of confidentiality
  • Proactive problem solving
  • Computer literate in Word and Excel
