JOB PURPOSE : Provides nursing services under the supervision and direction of a physician, advanced practice registered nurse, physician assistant, or registered nurse. Focuses on patient safety and is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with federal, state and local regulatory agencies; in accordance with established standards of the Nurse Practice Act, accepted medical/nursing standards, policies and procedures of Spindletop Center. Will be responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and focused nursing care to adult mental health consumers with predictable health care needs.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited course in licensed or practical vocational nursing. Minimum of one-year experience working in Behavioral Health or Primary Health Care setting utilizing reasoning skills to identify problems, in considering appropriate resolution of situations, and in the operation of computers and applicable computer software.
DEGREE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED (IF APPLICABLE): Valid Texas license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse issued by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR CONDITIONS (specify):
Current State of Texas Drivers License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business.
Must complete all CORE training requirements in month in which they are due. Completes all Center trainings within 60 days of employment and maintains compliance with annual center training requirements.
