JOB PURPOSE: Provides complex habilitative and rehabilitative care for individuals with Intellectual and developmental disabilities that are at risk of, or experiencing, a behavioral, mental or physical health crisis.  Work involves performing therapeutic or developmental activities.  Services include direct personal assistance with activities of daily living (grooming, eating, bathing, dressing and personal hygiene) and independent living tasks; assisting with meal planning and preparation; securing and providing transportation; assistance with housekeeping, assistance with ambulation and mobility; attending Person Directed Planning (PDP) meetings, reinforcement of counseling and therapy activities; assistance with medications and the performance of tasks delegated by a Registered Nurse; and supervision of a program participant’s safety and security.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  High school diploma or GED and one year of experience in providing direct care services to individuals with disabilities.  Knowledge of rehabilitative programs for individuals with developmental disabilities, resident care techniques, therapy and treatment programs.


Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state. Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business.  Must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business. 

Must complete all CORE training requirements in month in which they are due. Occupational hazards may include the risk of consumer induced bodily injury and contracting of communicable diseases. Ability to provide direct care; to implement therapeutic programs; to prepare reports and maintain records and to implement SAMA (Satori Alternative to Managing Aggression).    Must successfully complete SAMA facilitator training within one year of employment.
