Certified Medical Assistant
at Spindletop Center
JOB PURPOSE: The CMA performs technical nursing duties and provides direct assistance to the Daybreak Nurse and Clinicians (MD/APN), under the supervision of the Program Director, Daybreak Interagency Youth Services, and Nurse Manager for clinical supervision. This may require being reassigned to other Outpatient Clinics as needed. The position includes performing a variety of patient care activities including but not limited to; obtaining and recording of vital signs, in-house point of care testing, preparing EKGs, preparing client health record needed by the Clinicians in their day to day activities, ensuring that request for services and diagnostic forms are up to date and to notify appropriate staff whenever necessary, and other outpatient Clinic related activities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Graduation from an accredited high school or GED. One (1) year experience in a clinic setting; preferred. Graduate from an AAMA approved school with a Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant. Must possess general clerical skills including the ability to operate various computer software packages and copy and fax machines; typing and filing; and answering phones and directing calls in a courteous and professional manner.
CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Graduation from an accredited training program for Certified Medical Assistant and Certified as a Medical Assistant.

Current State of Texas Driver License or if you live in another state, must be currently licensed in that state Liability insurance required if employee will operate personal vehicle on Center property or for Center business. Must be insurable by Center’s liability carrier if employee operates a Center vehicle or drives personal car on Center business.
Must complete all CORE training requirements in month in which they are due.
