Specialized Medical Services (SMS), the nation's largest provider of respiratory services to skilled nursing facilities, is looking for one of the best repair technicians to fill a Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician position. This position will repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment used in the health care field. This position also includes duties such as:
  • Inspects and repairs company's medical and related technical equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
  • Inspects and repairs patient/customer's medical equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications.
  • Safety tests medical equipment and company's structural environment to ensure patient and staff safety from electrical or mechanical hazards.
  • Assembles medical equipment
  • Maintains adequate supply of repair parts.
  • Demonstrates and explains correct operation of equipment to staff personnel.
  • Documents the functional checks and repairs for company and patient/customer's equipment.
  • May have to assist Delivery Drivers in preparing, loading and unloading trucks/vans.
  • May be required to make visits to patient/customer's homes or places of work to repair or service equipment.
  • May attend professional schooling from equipment manufacturers on specific pieces of equipment.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement (PI) activities.
A successful candidate will have strong technical and quality management skills, while also preferably having the following qualifications and experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate’s degree in biomed repair preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Basic computer skill required, MS Office (excel), database data entry, etc.
