Job Purpose & Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
Coordinate and drive government and community relations strategies to advance SABIC’s goals and objectives for growth and protect SABIC’s business interests, with a particular focus on the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Identify emerging issues and challenges and proactively address them.
Build, maintain, and advance relationships with key state and local legislators, regulators and officials to benefit SABIC’s brand and business interests.
Develop and implement advocacy strategies to support SABIC’s U.S. growth projects, including efforts to obtain incentives and rebates for growth initiatives
Maintain a prominent role in key industry associations and business groups to extract maximum value from membership.

Key Accountabilities:
Work closely with regional head of government relations and other SABIC colleagues to identify government relations priorities and implement plans to achieve them, with a particular focus on the U.S. Gulf Coast region.
Drive government and community relations strategy for U.S. growth projects, including efforts to obtain grants and economic development incentives.
Manage and implement government and community relations strategies for existing sites, including accountability for site visits by federal, state and local officials
Build and maintain relationships with key state and local officials to advance SABIC’s business interests and growth strategies.
Engage in industry association state government affairs committees, including ACC, OFII, and NAM, to advance issues of interest to SABIC.
Support VP Americas on the Greater Houston Partnership.
Drive compliance with lobbying reporting requirements and gift and entertainment rules.

Job/Education Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in Public Policy, Law, or similar field preferred
Minimum of 7 years' experience in government relations or public policy, preferably with experience in advocacy in state legislatures and regulatory agencies.
Deep knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes and procedures.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Demonstrated skills in developing and executing successful advocacy strategies.
Strategic thinker and problem solver.
