  • Overview

    This position provides planning and design support on water resources projects.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide design calculations, technical reports, permitting and engineering plans as well as specifications for the design of water and wastewater facilities
    • Analyze and design urban storm drain systems to include hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater quality
    • Perform watershed hydrologic analyses for planning, outfall master planning, flood control conveyance and detention facility design
    • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using ArcGIS and other proprietary software for modeling
    • Perform risk assessments and inspection of flood control projects
    • Prepare proposals, scopes of work and contract cost estimates as needed

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET college or university
    • 2 years experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and analyses, flood control analyses and design, stormwater management plans, drainage and water supply management
    • Experience with regional and state design criteria and water resources permitting requirements
    • Experience with FEMA, CLOMR and LOMR process
    • Experience creating FEMA submittal packages, coordination with FEMA during the review process and responding to FEMA comments as well as following the review process through completion
    • Working knowledge of the following software: HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS and MS Office
    • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
    • Proven ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
    • Proven ability to build relationships with colleagues as well as clients and agency representatives
    • Must be able to work Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with occasional overtime
    • Must be dependable and reliable
