Job Description

Under minimal supervision, perform a variety of engineering work in designing, planning and testing of company-produced systems. May assist with customer and in-house training and project coordination.


  • Review, develop, and prepare project documentation following standards, practices, and use of engineering tools as recommended by governing department.
  • Communicate with customers, third-party project representatives, and other company departments to meet assigned project requirements and schedule.
  • Configure product databases.
  • Review system drawings.
  • Develop test procedures and conduct system tests.
  • Assist in the development of control strategies and software requirements.
  • Develop specifications for third-party equipment and instrumentation.
  • Coordinate assigned project work with technical and administrative personnel.
  • Travel to customer site (international or office for project meetings, site surveys, start-ups and training.
  • Design to pass Product Regulatory Compliance requirements (e.g. CE, CSA, ASTM, NFPA, etc.)


Education and Experience:

·          B.S. in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university, Master’s Degree a plus

·          7 years of electro-mechanical control systems engineering design or related field, required

·          Successful experience using PC computers in a networked system, and the following software applications skill levels:

o    SolidWorks PDM 2017 and/or SolidWorks 2017 drafting application are a plus

o    Microsoft Office 365:

  •  Excel and Word: intermediate-to-advanced
  •  Outlook: intermediate
  • PowerPoint, Visio, Project are a plus but not required

o    Microsoft SharePoint: ability to navigate, upload and download files, and open files

o    Internet browser: ability to successfully browse and find information, and use URLs for application startup using Explorer, Chrome, or another browser approved by PAC IT

·         The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of Engineering specification requirements:

o    Specification drawings that typically define fabricated parts and assemblies

o    Manufacture name and part number defining off-the-shelf parts

·          Good oral and written skills in meeting, message, and documentation communications and publications

·          Ability to work with team members in fast-paced, complex environment

·          Reliability to direct own work and complete requirements with minimal supervision

·          Detail-oriented with the ability and drive to follow up on outstanding tasks


·          Current technical understanding of mechanical design applied to process and/or instrument design.

·          Skilled with 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis, and Fluid Dynamics modeling

·          Experience with mechanical engineering CAD tools, Solidworks, etc.

·          Expertise in the area of material science applied to mechanical engineering.

·          Working knowledge of common manufacturing processes and fabrication techniques.

·          Expertise in tolerance analysis and assigning appropriate tolerances based on part function.

·          Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5M.

·          Familiarity with Product Safety Certifications such as CE-EMC, CE-LVD, CSA, UL or ATEX, a plus.

·          Must have excellent problem-solving facilitation skills to lead team efforts in the area of FMEA planning and problem resolution.

·          Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.   Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

·          Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to project and development work.

·          Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form.

·          Strong knowledge of basic Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics principles


·          Travel: 10% - 20%
