The coolest jobs on this planet… or any other… are with Lockheed Martin.

At the dawn of a new space age, Lockheed Martin is a pioneer, partner, innovator and builder. Our amazing men and women are on a mission to make a difference in the world and every single day we use our unique skills and experiences to craft, design and build solutions to some of the worlds’ hardest engineering problems. Do you want join a culture that inspires employees to think creatively, exceed their own expectations and build incredible products? We provide the resources, support and focus - if you have the passion and courage to dream big, then we want to build a better tomorrow with you.

Do you have a passion to get humans back to the moon and eventually to Mars? NASA has developed a vision for exploration that includes the development of a Human Lander System and a Gateway Habitat in the next 5 years. The nation received a White House mandate to place humans back on the surface of the Moon by 2024. Lockheed Martin Space is onboard to be part of this historic event and is looking to build a core team of highly-motivated engineers excited to be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This is a rare opportunity for you to help NASA meet the challenges of the first step in achieving that “long-term presence at the Moon” and the stepping point for human missions to Mars.

This position is for SIET Thermal Passive Control on the IHLS (Integrated Human Lander System) Program

In this role you will:
•Perform preliminary and detailed level thermal design and analysis
•Perform comprehensive modelling of the entire spacecraft thermal system using standardized processes and tools (Thermal Desktop, SINDA, TSS)
•Provide technical memos and guidance to put to data packages to support peer and customer reviews
•Present data to the spacecraft design/engineering team, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical exchange meetings and formal design reviews
•Work interactively with diverse engineering disciplines to develop cost-effective solutions to thermal control requirements which also satisfy producibility objectives defined by Manufacturing and Quality groups.

*This position is contingent upon program award expected Q4 2019. *

Basic Qualifications
• BS degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Physics, or related discipline or equivalent experience/combined education, with 7 years of professional experience
• Experience with Heat transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Aerodynamics, and computer programming
• Expertise in spacecraft thermal system design and analysis using standardized processes and tools (Thermal Desktop, SINDA, TSS)
• Knowledge of requirements development and management

Desired skills
• 7+ years experience with: thermophysics, heat transfer, aerodynamics, gas dynamics, propulsion, computational fluid dynamics, and computer programming.
• Experience using following software packages: CFD software (FLUENT, GASP, Pointwise, or other grid generation and CFD tools)
• Experience in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to perform technical tasks while being mindful of budgets
•Willingness to support occasional 24/7 activities (TVAC testing and launch support).
