Position Description

This position is designed to provide the individual with the needed knowledge and skills to become a more well rounded and experienced employee. The PM-Ops Specialist will learn various aspects of liquid terminal operations. The program is not designed around a class room environment, but a hands-on program that will expose the individual to different departments including: operations, maintenance, environmental health and safety, engineering, sales, and finance.
The program is designed without a predetermined length of time. The PM Ops-Specialist will be an energetic self-driven individual who demonstrates leadership, ambition, and a strong work ethic. He/she will be assigned to multiple facilities within the Gulf Area. In addition to the general training, the PM Ops Specialist will also be assigned various projects to develop their skills and to support the operations at the various facilities. These projects will be assigned by the Director, Engneering, but can be in any discipline. The projects can include running a small engineering project, directing the operations workforce, analyzing the process flow of an operation, assisting the commercial group, participating in an EH&S project, or any project where he/she can add value.

Position Requirements


High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree from a 4-year accredited institution is preferred.

Experience / specific knowledge:

Must demonstrate a strong work ethic with a minimum 2-5 years demonstrated work experience with Kinder Morgan.
Must possess a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card as issued by TSA (Transportation Security Administration).
Must possess a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record that meets company standards.

Must be an effective communicator including: being an attentive listener, be able to speak one on one or to a group of people, and being specific, timely and accurate. Ability to write clear communications in email, proposals, summary documents, and others.
Ability to properly plan, prioritize, execute (while under pressure and while meeting deadlines), and evaluate the results of assigned tasks.
Able to make sound decisions that are beneficial to the company.
Must possess the ability to inspire, motivate, and influence direct reports and peers.
Able to empower others to help achieve both short-term and long-term goals.
Must be able to seek the advice of others when appropriate.
Ability to accept supervision/direction and work effectively and cooperatively with other people.
Must be able to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint at the intermediate level.
Must have the ability to comprehend basic accounting/finance fundamentals.

Must be able to develop a vision for his/her role and create goals to meet that vision.

Physical demands:

Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time and able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must be willing to work in protected areas at heights up to 65 feet above ground.
Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
Must be able to hear and smell for deficiencies or hazards.
Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test.
Overtime may be required and is anticipated.

Working conditions:

Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required.
Must be able to work over water (dock).

Supervisory responsibility:

May have responsibility for hourly and salaried personnel depending on area of training and responsibilities. Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position

Required to solicit, from current or previous supervision, at least two letters of recommendation describing your leadership qualities. These letters shall be submitted directly from the supervisor/manager to the hiring manager.
