Position Description

Responsible for implementation of the gas storage pipeline in-line inspection (ILI) program, data analysis of ILI surveys and implementation of the Integrity Management Program (IMP) within the Kinder Morgan Natural Gas Pipelines business unit. This includes but is not limited to assisting with risk analysis on assigned gas storage assets, documentation for PHMSA compliance reporting, development and continuous improvement of systems and applications.
The primary duties of this role are as follows:

Receive and analyze ILI vendor provided data quality assessment feedback and determination of acceptance of ILI survey.

Receive, analyze and provide feedback on preliminary ILI data and provide project managers with assistance in evaluating data as needed.
Receive and analyze ILI vendor provided final in-line inspection surveys, perform quality control review, identify and communicate immediate and scheduled response conditions to relevant stakeholders.
Complete all action plans and closure reports associated with ILI surveys in compliance with company requirements.
Document and track overall program success by tracking established ILI vendor performance metrics. Prepare and present summary of issues during annual technology meetings.
Plan and execute requirements of the IMP including identifying, prioritizing, documenting, and addressing integrity threats for assigned gas storage pipeline assets

Assist with implementing the risk assessment/threat evaluation, risk ranking, long term assessment planning, P&M measure determination and tracking on selected gas storage assets

Fully understand the integrity threats and risks for assigned gas storage assets
Assist with running risk model(s) for specific assets including coordination of data collection, understanding the risk algorithms, reviewing and confirming results, and utilizing the risk output
Initiate and lead interaction with appropriate subject matter experts and other stakeholders for specific threats to assist in planning and to secure feedback on program improvements
Provide reporting of current status, areas of opportunity, and metrics of improvement
Provide support on regulatory related response and special permits such as root cause analysis, and developing and implementing response plans
Interact with various company departments including but not limited to Risk Engineering, Engineering Records, Project Management and field personnel to secure and provide data as necessary.
Review, edit and provide feedback regarding any proposed procedure or process variance requests
Provide support for other aspects of integrity related programs, processes, and procedures as required
Represent company in regulatory interactions as needed

**Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of successful candidate.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering

Strong effective, timely, clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with logical thought processes
Ability and willingness to perform all essential functions of the position including those listed above
Demonstrated ability to develop and refine processes
Ability and willingness to understand and implement all company/job related processes, procedures, guidelines and best practices
Ability and willingness to coordinate projects and programs with field operating personnel, project engineers, and outside entities maximizing the information made available within a defined budget

Ability to successfully work in team environment with a focus on both internal and external customers

Ability to interpret industry and company standards and procedures
Strong computer skills including but not limited to: advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
Subject to PHMSA compliant drug testing program

Work Conditions

Must be willing and able to work in a corporate environment in downtown Houston Texas

May require travel up to 35% depending on needs
Must be willing and able to carry a cell phone and respond as needed
After hours work will be required from time to time
Extended periods of sitting may be required

Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge

Experience with MS SQL Server, MS Access and/or database queries

Ability to query databases to support ad hoc data integration, QA/QC, and data analysis requests
Demonstrated ability to identify gaps in processes and follow through with solutions
Demonstrated ability to review, organize, and utilize detailed information
Demonstrated ability to develop, write, and document processes and procedures
Knowledge of PHMSA Part 192 regulations with detailed knowledge of Subpart O Pipeline Integrity Regulations
Knowledge and understanding of API 1163 standards
Demonstrated ability to scope, coordinate development, test, implement, document, maintain and continually improve new applications and related databases
Knowledge in various phases of corrosion as related to the gas storage industry including internal, external and atmospheric corrosion and applicability to RSTRENG analysis
Understanding of methods utilized for calculating failure pressures and safe pressure on conventional corrosion related anomalies
