Description
As part of the Natural Gas Business Unit, Measurement Department, this individual will provide Liquid Flow Computer support for NGL measurement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The

development, design, testing, implementation and support of new and existing Liquid Hydrocarbon Flow Computer technology.

The development and support of technical training in the operation and maintenance of Liquid Flow Computers for Field Operations.
Providing technical support and guidance to Corporate Measurement and Field Operations regarding:
Lost and Unaccounted (L&U) for liquid measurement.
Data collection and transmission from field level to downstream corporate accounting system(s).

Responsible for interfacing with other departments of Kinder Morgan including, but not limited to: Gas Control, SCADA, Design Engineering, and Volume Accounting.

Responsible for reviewing project scopes, engineering designs and drawings, making recommendations for such as appropriate.

Develop and generate documentation for EFM systems.

Train field personnel in use of EFM equipment.

Stay abreast of and maintain a working knowledge of applicable industry guidelines and regulations such as AGA, API, GPA, BLM, specifically the newer CFR orders pertaining to BLM, etc., and develop plans for addressing impacts of such.

Apply the company's design and operating philosophy within the field locations to meet corporate goals for safety, regulatory compliance, efficiency, and profitability.

Develop and generate project scope documents, schedules, costs estimates, budget forecasts as required with moderate direction from supervisor.

Effectively prioritize workload between several projects.

Significantly contribute to meeting business objectives by generating and implementing project ideas.

Position may be filled at various levels depending on experience and job skills of successful candidate.

Position Requirements

This position will be located in Houston, Texas and will require occasional (15% – 20%) travel to various Kinder Morgan facilities throughout the United States.

Qualifications include the following:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited University.

Applicants without a degree, with equivalent industry experience, will also be considered.

A thorough knowledge of communication protocols including MODBUS and BSAP is required.

Individual must possess a thorough knowledge of liquid measurement.

Individual must have strong oral and written communications skills.

Experience should include involvement in SCADA systems, network communications, and back-office systems.

The individual must be self-motivated and willing to learn new and changing computer-related technologies.

Individual must possess drive for self-directed work activity and be able to maintain a close working relationship with other flow computer users including those used for natural gas measurement.

Experience / Specific Knowledge:

Thorough understanding of measurement related calculations of gas and liquid.

Understanding of product and plant balancing process for liquids.

Ability to train other resources in the areas of liquid measurement.

Direct knowledge of AGA, GPA, API and other industry related standards for the physical measurement and calculated properties of pipeline gas liquid products specifically in the areas of including natural gas, NGL, crude.

Working knowledge in the transportation and processing of natural gas liquids and/or crude oil.

Working knowledge of applicable industry guidelines and regulations such as AGA, API, GPA, BLM, specifically the newer CFR orders pertaining to BLM, etc.

Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, VISIO, Access, PowerPoint.

Familiarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs).

Understanding of operating agreements, facilities interconnect agreements, and product allocation concepts.

Working Conditions:

Office environment based in Houston, Texas.

Periodic travel with overnight stays (10 — 15% typical).

Periodic visits to field locations with ability to move about industrial facilities and construction sites, including the use of steps, ladders, and scaffolding in varying weather conditions and working in confined spaces.

Extended work hours occasionally required and expected, often on short notice or without notice.
