Job Profile

The Chief Medical Officer serves as a physician liaison to the medical staff and is a senior administration team member.  S/he is responsible for leading Harris Health's strategic journey to implement the quality, utilization, and regulatory initiatives as developed by the system CMO and pavilion leadership.  S/he is comfortable operating in a highly matrixed environment and has strong interpersonal relationship skills.  This leader has experience with and a strong understanding of value based purchasing.  Analysis of quality and utilization analytics is required.

Minimum Qualifications
Work Experience
8 Years Work Experience of post-residency clinical experience
(And) At least Five (5) Years Work Experience of progressive experience in medical leadership in an academic, matrixed environment.


Master's Degree - An advanced degree in Business Administration or Healthcare (MBA, MMM, MHA) preferred or must complete within four years of hire date

Doctor of Medicine

Licenses and Certifications

Board Certification via ABMS (or equivalent board) preferred
Active Texas Medical License with current DEA/DPS registration

Management Experience
5 years of progressive management experience - Leadership experience at the senior management level

Communication Skills
Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)
Exceptional Verbal (Public Speaking)

Must be able to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and understanding of the interdepartmental roles of the various.  Must be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.  Must be familiar with verbal based purchasing, data compilation, and data analysis.  Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.  Knowledge of state, federal, and regulatory requirements, including CMS and DNV.
