Job Description
The primary role of the DME-Home Health Care (HHC) Specialist is to provide exceptional customer service to patients and caregivers as it relates to durable medical equipment (DME). The DME-HHC Specialist must be able to effectively communicate the department’s offerings and assist customers in selecting and ordering the correct products. In addition, the DME-HHC Specialist must implement company strategies to increase sales profits, in conjunction with developing personalized strategic plans that target the surrounding market. This role leads the training and development of all store colleagues in the adherence of company polices, as well as applicable Federal/State regulations as they pertain to the Home Health Care department.

Responsibilities% Time
1.Provides education to customers on the application, use, and care of products encompassing both carried offerings and special order selections. Expert consultation should align a customer’s needs and desires with the corresponding availability of options. 65%
2.Executes the company’s merchandising and marketing plans to increase store sales, profits and customer service levels.15%
3.Analyzes category reporting in order to create and drive a personalized sales plan for the department.10%
4.Assists in the training of HHC and non-HHC colleagues regarding products, provided services and the additional responsibilities that come with working in a staffed Home Health Care store. 5%
5.Clarifies prescriptions and verbal orders prior to dispensing durable medical equipment, verifies completeness and coverage limitations (deductible, co-pay, maximums, etc.) for insurance eligible items and if applicable, provides necessary claims paperwork/ product to the Pharmacy for billing.5%

Required Qualifications
1.Must have knowledge and experience in a manner or related health care field.
2.Ability to readily adapt in response to customer needs, to changes in schedules, and work priorities.
3.Confidence to handle conversations sensitive/personal in nature.
4.Ability to work independently to fulfill daily and long-term department operations.
5.Capacity to learn and apply the information contained in company manuals, policies and practices.
6.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7.Will require heavy lifting, standing, bending, sitting and prolonged walking.
8.Will require computer, register and phone system skill sets.

1-3 years of experience required
3-5 years of experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

High School or equivalent required.
Associates degree preferred.

Preferred certificates/licenses: DME Specialist (CDME), Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT), Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) or Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
