The City of Pearland is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Special Event Coordinator for the newly renovated Independence Park. The park boasts improvements to make resident and visitor experiences more welcoming than ever.  With the addition of an amphitheater, covered stage, playground and pavilion Independence Park's wide-open spaces can accommodate public and private special events, ranging from taking the kids for a fun day out from birthday parties to large community festivals and markets.

The position will manage and coordinate the parks programming, prospect/solicit new event opportunities and serve as a point of contact for outside organization that would like to host public or private events at Independence Park. 

A successful candidate will be extremely organized, able to manage the logistics of multiple events simultaneously, attract events through sales calls, attending client meetings, participating in/attending trade shows, networking events, and other avenues for introducing event opportunities.  Must be able to physically work outside in a variety of weather conditions, supervise the set-up and break-down of events and programs, and work outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends.  Other responsibilities include generating and implementation of new ideas for park programs, marketing, promoting awareness of the park, selling sponsorships, creating partnerships, creating and managing an annual budget and calendar for programming and events.

Qualified candidates should have two years of experience in program development and management, event production and management, visitor services at a cultural or entertainment facility, or related work.  Candidate must also have strong oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent time management and human relations skills. 


Additional Education, Experience, and Licenses:

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in business, liberal arts, or closely related field.

Requires two years event coordination or closely related experience.

Valid, Class "C" Texas Driver's License required.
