DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Houston Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to building a sustainable community and enhance the quality of urban life by providing safe well-maintained parks and offering affordable programming for our community. To achieve this mission, HPARD is seeking a Student Intern II (Seasonal) to join its Recreation and Wellness team. 

The potential candidate will play a key role in the following duties:

  • Assist in the coordination, administration and/or monitoring the Parks and Recreation Summer Enrichment Program.
  • Instruct and/or assist with a wide range of programming, exhibitions and demonstrations for youth and teens.
  • Assist with program preparation and facility cleaning.
  • May be required to work evenings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires the ability and knowledge for analysis and interpretation of procedures, policies and practices attainable through specific education and/or training programs in a specialty or technical field.

SALARY INFORMATION
Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification. The salary range is:
