Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for complying with US federal, state, and local tax laws and for maintaining tax processes that maximize efficiency. Responsible for calculating and tracking PP&E related book/tax basis differences as well as assisting with regulatory reporting. Also, will be required to provide guidance to tax analysts and review their work product.

Essential Functions:

•Reviews and prepares fixed asset book/tax roll forwards and maintains fixed asset related book/tax differences

•Utilizes PowerTax to calculate depreciation deduction and maintain property plant and equipment deferred tax balances

•Reviews or prepares the repair deduction using Alteryx software

•Reviews or prepares 263A deduction

•Assists with the review and preparation of various regulatory reporting and rate case schedules for regulated business units

•Conducts tax research and analysis of Internal Revenue Code or other statutory and case law as needed

•Prepares and/or reviews US federal, state and local corporate income/franchise tax returns, partnership tax returns, and estimated/extension tax payments.

•Prepares and/or reviews various components of the quarterly ASC 740 (formerly FAS 109 and FIN 48) accruals including the calculation of book to tax differences, tax basis balance sheets, and tax account reconciliations

•Ability to use independent judgment, provide guidance to lower level tax employees and work with minimal supervision

•Ability to interact and collaborate with professionals within the tax department




Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

CPA or advanced degree preferred

Experience:

Minimum 7 years of income tax experience or equivalent income tax experience in business or industry with a strong foundation in US federal and state corporate income/franchise taxation as well as income tax accrual.

Proficient experience in PowerTax is required 

Excel and other Microsoft Office products

Strong FERC accounting background is a plus

SAP experience is a plus

Proficiency in Alteryx is a plus

Physical Requirements:

•Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.

•Must have the ability to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone, and other office equipment. Must be able to bend and stoop.

•Able to sit and view a personal computer display for long periods of time

Working Conditions:

•Able to produce quality work in fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.

•Able to work irregular hours and overtime as needed or required to meet established deadlines.
