Job Description
We are currently seeking a Superintendent for a large-scale water treatment facility project located in Houston, TX

The Superintendent schedules, coordinates, and supervises all field activities, including CDM Smith employees and subcontractors. Oversees vertical construction activities on a project to ensure that self-performed and subcontracted trade work is in compliance with contract documents and the project schedule. Superintendents implement and enforce safety and quality control policies among CDM Smith employees and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Overall management of field operations, including millwright work
• Proactively identifies, manages, and resolves potential problems, work conflicts, and/or schedule challenges
• Implement CDM Smith’s safety program. Conduct regular safety inspections to assure all working conditions and work habits are in compliance with company, contract and government standards
• Schedule and supervise crews of employees and subcontractors to meet deadlines and milestones
• Monitor project costs, budget, and productivity
• Maintain continuous, open communication with the project management team, client representative and subcontractors
• Monitor and suggest solutions to construction problems or design flaws as work is in progress
• Primary liaison with Owner and Engineers to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule
• Order and schedule delivery of material and equipment, reviewing requisitions and purchase orders for correctness and cost savings
• Document daily activities and hours worked for payroll
• Perform quality control inspections and review plans and specifications for quality assurance
• Mentor/train field staff
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience
Minimum 8 years civil site and vertical construction engineering or similar experience, preferably at least 4 in supervisory capacity.
Experience supervising the construction of industrial type facilities.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle a broad scope of responsibility;
Thorough understanding of construction scheduling and cost control;
comprehensive knowledge of company policies, procedures, and standards;
Sound communication, organizational, supervisory and planning skills;
Ability to read and interpret blue prints; basic computer skills.
Must be able to travel.
