Job Description and Qualifications
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. a world-leading industrial gases company, has an immediate opportunity for the PLANT PROCESS ENGINEER.
You will support the Americas Industrial Gases HYCO On-sites and the Prism Hydrogen Generator (PHG) fleets across North America and will coordinate closely with the operating facilities and Small HyCO Operations leadership. The Plant Process Engineer may work out of Houston, TX or Allentown, PA; or potentially be residence-based, and the job will require approximately 30% travel, mostly to Air Products operating facilities within the U.S.
Responsibilities of the position include:
  • Main point of contact for HyCO Plant Process Engineering support for 7 operating HYCO units.  Remotely monitor their performance and proactively identify and troubleshoot operating issues.
  • Main point of contact for HyCO Plant Process Engineering support for the North America PHG fleet, currently comprising 11 units in the US, and 3 in Brazil.  The PHG fleet will be expanding significantly in the next few years.  Provide support for troubleshooting, efficiency and reliability projects as required.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement productivity projects that improve either reliability, efficiency, or capacity. Define work scope, generate EAR’s, eMOC’s, etc. as required to execute these projects.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of multiple plant outages and retrofits.
  • As opportunities arise, you will be requested to provide support to other HYCO franchises.
  • As opportunities arise, you may be requested to use ASPEN to evaluate potential process changes to our facilities. 
  • B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Desire to obtain hands-on experience in a plant operating environment.
  • Ability to work in groups remote from the plant locations, interacting with plant operators and engineers.
  • Prior experience as an intern or CDP at an operating plant or in the HYCO PST would be helpful but is not required.
  • Experience in using Aspen at Air Products would be helpful but is not required.
  • Desire to make a measurable positive impact to plant performance and AP’s profitability.
