Description:
Our Buyer Planner within the Rotoflow business will be accountable for operational procurement and sourcing strategies for materials and services required to supply precision-engineered equipment. Also requires knowledge of shop floor scheduling and execution of MRP driven production orders. Assist in the inventory management and cycle counting.
 
The Buyer Planner will be part of the procurement team that is required to procure materials and services for Rotoflow, including machined parts, services, MRO parts, bearings, and related materials. Individual interfaces and works with engineering, design, scheduling, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure customer expectations are met. Team members, customers, and suppliers are global. The work environment is dynamic with a broad mix of commercial and technical challenges. There is a strong continuous improvement focus to the role ideal for candidates looking to make a direct impact to the competitiveness of Air Products turbomachinery offerings.
 
The incumbent is expected to have a clear working knowledge of the supply competitiveness drivers, key suppliers in the market, and supply marketplace dynamics. This position plays a critical supplier relationship management role to ensure alignment with business strategies. The position will typically interact at senior management levels within the supplier’s organization to represent our interests.
 
The ideal person should have a demonstrated record of leadership, influencing skills, financial and business acumen, and excellent organization and time management skills. Encouraged to have the knowledge, experience, and ability to employ the appropriate influence strategies with business partners to meet the objectives. Strong procurement, organizational, written, and negotiating skills are required. Ability to effectively communicate technical and non-technical information, across cultures and organizations is a key success factor. MRP background is required. Inventory control background a plus.
 
Accountabilities:
 
  1. Embody the company's 4S culture of Safety, Speed, Simplicity and Self-Confidence
  2. Develop strategies and lead the commercial contracting negotiations and implementation for assigned categories consistent with business requirements
  3. Monitor, communicate, and respond to changing market conditions and business drivers on a global basis to maximize influence and minimize risk.
  4. Lead cross-functional teams involved in supplier discovery, supplier qualification, and supplier development.
  5. Work closely with supported businesses to ensure stability and cost effectiveness of supply.
  6. Handle supplier performance and maintain interface at senior levels of supplier organizations.
  7. Serve as Single point of contact with designated suppliers for commercial issues (past due invoices, etc)
  8. Act as technical liaison between Gardner / Rotoflow engineers and suppliers
  9. Provide price and lead time information to Estimating and Project teams
  10. Lead supplier feedback process for delivery and quality metrics
  11. Drive Continuous Improvement with suppliers
  12. Prepare Requests for Quotation and solicit contending bids from qualified sources; Prepare tabulation of bids for management approval
  13. Place purchase orders in SAP, and lead PO lifecycle including confirmations, invoicing, discrepancies, invoicing, and problem resolution
  14. Cross training with buying team on different commodity groups
  15. Support emergency needs as required
  16. Coordinate with the master scheduler to assure materials are available to meet schedule.
  17. Assist in inventory control by cycle counting and rectifying discrepancies
  18. General facility procurement support; such as maintenance, improvements, equipment purchases

Qualifications:
 
  • BS/BA Degree in Business or related field
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to understand technical concepts
  • Competency in using the Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Travel required to suppliers, plants, and customers as needed
  •  Experience with SAP or other ERP systems
