AECOM HUNT is actively seeking a highly motivated Assistant Superintendent or Project Engineer for employment in the Indianapolis, IN office. This position will work for AECOM Hunt Construction Group on a Manufacturing facility in NH during the 12-week internship program summer of 2020.

Project Engineer:
Works with the Project Engineers to provide technical engineering information to company supervision and specialty contractors to ensure the project complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instructions.  Reviews, analyzes and resolves field construction problems, discrepancies and interferences with architect/engineer, owner and/or specialty contractors. Perform document control functions as instructed and supervised by the Project Engineers.  Assist the Project Engineer in reviewing, analyzing and resolving field construction problems, discrepancies and interferences with architect/engineer, owner and/or specialty contractors.  Performs all functions and responsibilities in partnership with the company’s culture, corporate vision, ethics and code of conduct.

  • Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences and errors/omissions.
  • Monitor field activities to ensure compliance with company standards, procedures and specifications and codes.
  • Responsible for continuous updating and accurate generations of as-built documents and contract documents.  Post RFI's, sketches, approved changes and other pertinent information to the contract documents.
  • Research and preparation of change requests to resolve design issues for approval.
  • Responsible for clear and tractable document control in accordance with established policies and procedures, including utilizing management systems to create/track RFI’s, transmit/track submittals, organize photos, test reports and other documents are directed.
  • Attend and actively participate in project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings as requested or required.
  • Coordinate periodic job-related photographs for records.
  • Perform additional duties and assignments as assumed or directed by supervision.
Assistant Superintendent
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide overall on-site administrative and technical management for a wide range of construction projects.
  • Responsible for the organization and direction of construction and related activities within assigned area of responsibility, which may be a single area, multi-area or a multi-discipline construction project.
  • May be the primary client contact for all jobsite day to day activities, or may coordinate with client’s resident representatives on jobsite activities within assigned area of operations.
  • Responsibilities are to ensure assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Interfaces with all other administrative field staff, field management staff and particularly the Project Manager in a coordinated effort.

Minimum Requirements
AA/AS (US) + None or Diploma/Certification (Canada) + None

Preferred Qualifications
  • Available to work 12 consecutive weeks from May 2020 - August 2020
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Construction Management, Building Technology, Civil Engineering or similar major
  • Ability to follow direction and manage specific tasks to completion
  • Ability to learn new technologies and concepts
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities 
  • Willing to work a variety of tasks alone or as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Eagerness to learn and positive attitude
