The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Executes engineering assignments such as preparing reports, analyzing data, estimating project costs, modeling traffic patterns, creating graphics and presentations, and more
  • Exercises judgment in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer including site visits
  • Builds trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Builds analytic and design skills
  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in traffic or transportation engineering or other related field
  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and technical writing skills
  • Good communication, critical thinking, and technical writing skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ Experience in the areas of developing roadway traffic plans, ITS plans, and performing traffic analysis
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering concepts
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as of MicroStation, Synchro, VISSIM)
  • Research and apply new technologies in the industry, such as big data, data analytics, and connected / automated vehicles
