TELECOMMUNICATOR
JOB SUMMARY AND PRINCIPAL DUTIES (JD 7202S-44N) This is an exciting and rewarding public service position with excellent benefits and retirement plan. We are looking for someone who will take pride in having an impact on safety of the community served, its citizens, businesses and visitors. This is your opportunity to be part of the team to answer emergency and service calls from the public and dispatch appropriate services including police, fire and medical units. You will enter and retrieve data in the Computer Aided Dispatch system, process general information requests for the public or other agencies, and will assign, track, monitor, and disseminate information to field units via appropriate radio frequencies and computer systems.

Attendance is an essential function of these positions. The City reserves the right to require an employee in these positions to work overtime. These positions provide services or perform duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in these positions may be required to remain to perform needed services.

Skills / Requirements

Telecommunicator
REQUIRED:
1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
2. One year realted experience
PREFERRED:
1. T.C.L.E.O.S.E. Telecommunicator acknowledgment.
2. Multi-line telephone system experience.
3. Multi-frequency radio system experience.
4. Keyboard skills at 30 words per minute.
