SYCAMORES BOOKSTORE - RETAIL SALES ASSISTANT NEEDED

Assist all other store personnel in creating a positive and welcoming retail atmosphere, focused on the needs of our customers and Woodlands Church.

-Warmly greet customers to ascertain how to best serve them

-Open and close POS registers, conduct sales transactions, reconcile cash drawers.

-Transaction types include cash, check, credit card and in-house for sales, exchanges and returns and refund.

-Apply appropriate discounts for promotions, organizational and employee transactions.

-Open and close store when assigned

-Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, customer service and store operating policies.

-Perform look up and search functions for items (primarily books), not currently in-stock.

-Place special order items into the POS system

-Answer questions regarding the store, it‚s hours of operation, and church events.

-Answer questions regarding products in the store, their use and care.

-Help and assist customers locating merchandise in the store.

-Clean shelves, counters, tables, and other merchandising fixtures.

-Assist in receiving and stocking of merchandise

-Answer and assist customers over the phone, and transact sales over the phone.

-Successfully complete product training as assigned

-Assist in selling and engraving products in the Laser Center

Skills / Requirements

A successful person for this position will:
-Have a warm and engaging personality, able to quickly assess the needs of our customers.
-Have a high energy level that adapts quickly to changing priorities.
-Have an ability to multi-task throughout the day and week.
-Have a good to above average analytical skills
-Have some desktop publishing experience (i.e. Microsoft Publisher and/or similar)
-Have previous retail customer service and merchandising experience - preferably in Christian Retail.
-Have prior retail product receiving experience.
-Have flexibility to adjust to short term schedule changes.
-Have a heart for serving others.
-Ability to work any day of the week, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
-Able to lift up to 50 pounds
