Job Title: MULTI-DISCIPLINE INSPECTOR - TN
Salary: $1,966.00 - $2,152.00 Biweekly $51,116.00 - $55,952.00 Annually Job Type: Full-Time Location: Houston, Texas PN# 06952 Public Works & Engineering Department Planning and Development Services Code Enforcement/Occupancy 3300 Main* M - F, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.* *Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Enforces and maintains the understanding and application of building codes and ordinances for structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical facilities, structures and systems. Identifies schedules, conducts and reviews various types of structural, electrical, plumbing and mechanical installations to ensure compliance with regulations. Enters data from forms and reports into computer system to track and maintain project performance and status on computer. Handles all inquires from technical professionals and the general public to increase knowledge and insight of code requirements. Reviews occupancy plan reviews and investigations. Arranges transportation to and from work locations. WORKING CONDITIONS This position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. This is a Department of Public Works & Engineering Emergency Management position at the Tier III Level. Skills / Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires an Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to three years in duration. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Four (4) years of journeyman level experience in building trades construction with two of these years in inspections. MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Must obtain a State of Texas Plumbing Inspector's license within 90 days of appointment in this classification and requires International Conference of Building Officials certification as either Plan Examiner, Plumbing Inspector, Mechanical Inspector or Building Inspector and requires Council of American Building Officials One & Two Family Dwelling Code Certification or International Conference of Building Officials Combination Inspector disciplines. Must have valid Texas Driver's License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving.
