Workdays & Hours: Shift work, including rotation, holidays and weekends (subject to change)

Performs varied mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of Airfield & Grounds equipment. Use hand tools, power tools and special equipment to perform preventative maintenance, lubricate and repair equipment such as lawn mowers, weedeaters, edgers, blowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, pumps, small engines and power tools. Inspects and tests equipment; maintains a record of maintenance and repair work performed; may be required to drive to and from section work sites to accomplish repairs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Performing these duties will involve: lifting, pulling and pushing physical objects; expending physical energy for long periods; walking and standing for extended periods of time; operates city vehicles, observing and differentiating details; recognizing sounds and distinguishing colors; adjusting to repetitive tasks; working in adverse weather conditions and exposure to airport noise; speaking and writing effectively. May be required to lift up to eighty (80) pounds, bending and assuming awkward positions. Must be willing and available to work all shifts, including rotation, weekends and holidays. Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearances

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Specialized training in principles, procedures, practices, routines or techniques in a specific area or trade which might normally be acquired through up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Six (6) months of experience in building or mechanical maintenance.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Valid Class C Texas driver's license and compliance with city's policy on driving (AP 2-2). PREFERENCES: One year experience repairing and maintaining power tools and small engines preferred. Experienced in installation and repairing electrical wiring of attachments to vehicles. Ability to interpret equipment diagrams. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, to communicate tactfully and effectively with Aviation employees and supervisors.
