Job Title: FIELD SUPERVISOR
Salary: $1,022.00 - $1,541.00 Biweekly $26,572.00 - $40,066.00 Annually Job Type: Full-Time Location: Houston, Texas PN # 06967 ALL PERSONS INTERESTED FIELD SUPERVISOR (2 POSITIONS) Department: PARKS AND RECREATION Division: GREENSPACE MANAGEMENT Section: MAINTENANCE* Location: VARIOUS* Workdays & Hours: M-F, 6:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. * *Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS This position will coordinate, participate and supervise teams of 3-5 permanent employees, along with additional temporary assistance in the form of probationers, seasonal employees, part-time employees or volunteers to maintain a group of parks and street medians. Analyze and resolve staff, equipment and operating problems and implement changes to increase efficiency. Supervise and delegate tasks to balance workload and resources. Conduct inspections of parks and document work orders needed to repair and improve facility. Maintain various records including statistics of labor, material and equipment resources utilized on work executed. Set goals, train, motivate and periodically evaluate crewmembers to improve performance. Ensure employees have adequate supplies and properly functioning equipment. Oversee preventative maintenance of assigned vehicles, equipment and tools. Enforce safety regulations within crew performance on a daily bases. Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays and on call as needed. This position is designates among essential personnel under the City's Emergency Management Policy. WORKING CONDITIONS The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. Skills / Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or a GED. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Four (4) years of progressively responsible work experience in the maintenance field are required. Related work experience in ground maintenance may substitute for education on a year for year basis. MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS A valid Driver's License and complies with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).
