Job Title: EVIDENCE TECHNICIAN
Salary: $801.00 - $1,592.00 Biweekly $20,826.00 - $41,392.00 Annually Job Type: Full-Time Location: 61 Riesner, Texas PN# 07042 HOUSTON POLICE (SPECIAL FUNDS) TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT N/A 61 RIESNER* WED - SAT, 9:00 P.M. - 7:00 A.M.* Subject to change* DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Process DWI prisoners including, but not limited to: Operation of Intoxilizer/Breath Alcohol Testing Instrument. Operation of Breath Alcohol Testing Van and equipment. Administration of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Properly maintain custody and submit all evidence and paperwork. Testify in County/District Court when required by the District Attorney's Office. Attend required departmental training as directed. WORKING CONDITIONS Exposure to intoxicated persons in a confined environment. Routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. Skills / Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or GED. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Requires one year of experience in warehousing, shipping and receiving, bookkeeping and inventory control or a related field, preferably in law enforcement and /or a high security environment. Special Requirement(s): Due to the sensitive nature, high security environment, and value of property and/or evidence impounded, successful completion of a background investigation and polygraph is required. MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Must possess a valid Texas driver's license and comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving and state licensure. Must attend and pass first testing attempt of the Intoxilyzer Operator School and maintain proficiency and certification. Must pass and maintain proficiency in the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration 'Standardized Field Sobriety' course. PREFERENCES: PREFERENCES Preference will be given to applicants with law enforcement or high security experience.
