Job: Underwriter - Consumer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop, nurture, and maintain an excellent relationship with all Lending/Sales Staff.
• Reviews loans daily which are approved and declined through the internet, FastStart, and internal automated approval matrix and score card system.
• Assisting the members in preparing the necessary loan applications and approving or denying loans within board policy limits.
• Cultivate and maintain superb relationships with departments and staff.
• Referring existing and new members to a colleague or service partner who has specific expertise.
• Keeping abreast of all credit union promotions.
• Participating with staff in training to improve knowledge of products and operating procedures.
• Serving in any staff capacity when required.
• Having a strong, working knowledge of the credit union’s electronic data processing systems.
• Performing other duties as needed.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) with an emphasis in business administration or closely related field from four-year college; or experience equivalent to that normally achieved through 3-5 years progressive experience in lending. Administrative background; experienced or trained in the field of sales and service as well as lending. At least 2 years of experience with a financial institution.
