Job: STAFF ACCOUNTANT-DIRECT HIRE-GREAT BENEFITS

GREAT COMPANY IN WEST HOUSTON HAS AN IMMEDIATE NEED FOR AN EXPERIENCE STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Staff Accountant-Fixed Assets needed to join the team. Heavy Fixed Assets experience is necessary to succed in the job, about 80% of this job will be in fixed assets. The most qualified candidates will have worked in fixed assets within the last year on one of the following ERP Systems (PeopleSoft, Oracle, or SAP)

Description
Reviews and approves daily fixed assets work list for proper account coding.
Ensures accurate posting of fixed asset additions, retirements, adjustments and transfers in the Asset Management system.
Capitalizes assets by category for new stores and closed projects and processes monthly depreciation.
Ensures timely and accurate financial reporting of expensing repairs, maintenance costs and amortizing prepaid accounts.
Reconciles the AM system to general ledger. Resolves any discrepancies in a timely manner.
Analyzes and prepares monthly entries for the gain/loss of sales of fixed assets accounts.
Assists with year-end fixed assets audit.
Enters financial information in computer systems.
Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
Maintains confidentiality of Academy’s financial information.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of related work experience required.
Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required.
Proficiency in MS Excel and Word required.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices required.
Knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.
