Jobing Description
1. Directs Public Works Division which includes Engineering and Streets and Storm Water Management, traffic, traffic signalization and solid waste.
2. Directs and Coordinates infrastructure capital improvement construction projects related to streets, drainage and Engineering. 3. Reviews and Coordinates the infrastructure aspects of residential subdivision, commercial and industrial development projects. Determines both financial and engineering feasibility for major non-utility Municipal projects. 4. Directs and Coordinates the activities of Division staff. Coordinates Public Works operations with the City Administrator, County, State and Federal Governments, as well as special districts and regional planning organizations. 5. Meets with the general public to discuss various Public Works Division operations and maintenance and infrastructure capital improvement budgets. 6. Coordinates and develops long range plans and programs for the City’s infrastructure for inclusion in the CIP development, construction and maintenance. 7. Directs and coordinates the implementation and continued operation of necessary master planning and development reviews/outsource contracts such as sanitation, channel maintenance, and concrete maintenance and repairs, and solid waste collection and disposal. 8. Performs all other related duties as assigned. 9. Oversees municipal storm water regulatory compliance issues, including storm water compliance for municipally operated industrial sectors and storm water compliance for municipal construction projects. Skills / Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required. Master’s Degree and Texas License Engineer preferred. Seven to ten years experience in Municipal Public Works Administration or a related field required. Valid Texas State Driver’s license required.
Skills in public speaking, oral and written communication and providing effective guidance and direction. Knowledge of engineering and construction methods applicable to Public Works infrastructure as well as project construction management. Knowledge of local, state and federal codes, ordinances and regulations. Ability to prioritize facets of work among various departments and divisions. Ability to deal effectively with associates, contractors, developers, elected officials and the general public. Ability to organize plans, staffs, budget, research and implement all aspects of Public Works Administration. Important Notes
