Jobing Description
The laboratory is actively involved in an important United Kingdom (UK) Home Office-funded program that specifically targets the development of lab-on-a-chip assays for saliva-based drug detection.

The laboratory is now seeking a highly motivated individual with expertise in immunoassay development to fill a position as technical staff for this program. The Research Technician serves as technical staff for the laboratory and will work in a research capacity to conduct bead-based micro-assay system research that function to measure drugs of abuse in salivary samples. The Research Technician will work under the supervision of the Assay and Data Analysis Directors and the PI. Selected individual will responsible for conducting and multiplexing LOC assays for amphetamine and diazepam. This individual will be charged with testing of reagents for assay performance on lab-on-a-chip technology platform, and ensuring that the assays meet immunoassay specification standards.



Skills / Requirements
- Conduct research and experiments under the guidance of the PI and/or Assay and Data Analysis Directors in the group. Specific types of research include assay optimization and optimization for amphetamine and diazepam.
- Drug measurements in saliva and serum samples.
- Assist with setting up the laboratory and day-to-day laboratory technical operations including safety, equipment maintenance, and prepare reagents and microbeads.
- Train undergraduate students on the use of equipment and on basic research procedures.



Must have a Bachelor's Degree
Chemistry, immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or closely related field.
Experience may not be substituted for the education requirement.
Experience Required 2 years
- Experience in acquiring and storing supplies, materials and equipment in a biological/microbiology laboratory.
- Experience with scientific equipment used in a laboratory.
- Direct experience working with human clinical samples.
Education may not be substituted for the experience requirement.
