Job: Animal Control Supervisor

1. Oversee fellow Animal Control Officer’s training.
2. Manage community service workers and oversee activities of volunteers.
3. Investigate, respond to complaints by citizens/co-workers, and write up recommendation on Animal Control Officer’s performance of call response.
4. Evaluate, on a quarterly basis, ACO field performance and report to superintendent.
5. Oversee trap issue and return program.
6. Submit Standard Operating Procedure revisions as needed.
7. Maintain and update cattle log as needed.
8. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

High School diploma or equivalent required. Must have or be able to obtain Advanced Animal Control Certification within six (6) months of employment. Six months to one year experience with animal care/control required. Must have Euthanasia certification, tranquilizer equipment qualifications. Valid State Driver’s License.

Must be able to properly use a pressure washer, fax/copier/scanner. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, Multiple Options, and AS400 software. Effective skills in communications and use of animal control equipment. Knowledge of City geography, City ordinances and laws, State laws, traffic laws, departmental policies and report and filing procedures. Knowledge of animal behavior and zoonotic disease and drug use. Ability to manage stress, remain professional and courteous with the public, cooperate with other city departments, defuse conflict situations and deal with confrontation.
