General Description:

Working closely with the Controller on accounting close, consolidation, financial statement preparation and related analyses for multiple entities.

Integral part of the monthly accounting close including fixed assets, prepaid assets, income taxes, payroll, and accruals.

Assisting Controller with external auditors, regulators and internal & external parties by preparing financial statements, accounting analyses and reports - both scheduled and ad hoc.

Reconciling accounts and preparing GL entries as necessary.

Responsible for accounting for income taxes and coordinating income tax compliance with the outside tax firm.

Responsible for general ledger maintenance.

Various job duties/responsibilities and special projects as directed or as determined on own initiative.

Performing research, analysis and action plans on GAAP and on expected changes to GAAP.

Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks while meeting requirements and deadlines.

May lead and direct the work of others during team initiatives. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Providing leadership towards additional value-added activities, which Accounting can provide in support of operational and departmental excellence, while fostering teamwork between the finance & accounting and operating functions.
Job Skill Requirements:

Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, procedures, systems and internal control design.

Solid GAAP research and technical skills.

Knowledge of lease and loan accounting principles.

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Ability to recognize and analyze problems, and develop and lead solutions.

Good business-related oral and written communication skills with all levels of people within and outside the company.

Superior business-related work ethic reflecting outstanding commitment, leadership, and followership.

Able to handle assigned specific projects and goals; monitor projects and goals for completion within expected time frames and expectations; and report progress & results to management.

High degree of flexibility and dedication to react to an environment of fast growth and constant change and improvement.

Experience in accurately operating a 10-key calculator / keyboard.

Very proficient in office automation, accounting general ledger systems, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook required.

Proficiencies in data mining, Jack Henry Outlink 20/20 General Ledger, LeasePlus, databases, and fixed asset systems are preferred.

Skills / Requirements

Work experience requirements:

5-8 years of experience accounting, preferably in financial institutions, finance companies or lease companies. Additional education may be substituted for some experience.

Exposure to loan and lease accounting, off-balance sheet financing, accounting for foreign currencies, and accounting for multiple legal entities highly referred. Public accounting experience in an audit function is highly preferred.

Education Requirements:

Four-year college degree in Business with concentrations in Finance or Accounting required.

Accounting or finance certifications (Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst) or tangible progress in obtaining certification is required.
