Workforce Solutions provides comprehensive human resource services for businesses and residents of the 13-county Houston-Galveston Gulf Coast region. Workforce Solutions helps employers solve workforce-related business problems and area residents build careers, so that both can better compete in the changing worldwide economy. Our Employer Service Division provides personalized service to help employers find qualified applicants for their jobs, build the skills and expertise of their new and current employees, and address human resource needs. We operate multiple community-based career offices in 13 Texas Gulf Coast counties to help residents get a job, keep a job or get a better job – offering placement, career counseling and financial aid services. We partner with the region’s businesses, educational institutions, civic organizations and community leaders to find solutions to current and future labor needs of industries that are vital to the region and its economy. As part of the statewide Texas Workforce Solutions network, we partner with the Texas Workforce Commission and other workforce boards in the largest job-matching database in the state

Workforce Solutions is funded by state and federal tax-dollars that are redirected back into the Gulf Coast region. We do not charge for our services. In 2007, Workforce Solutions system served more than 20% of the 121,000 businesses in the region. It recruited, screened and referred candidates to fill almost 50,000 open jobs, and it provided current economic and labor market data, human resource consulting and outplacement services for 6,997workers from 67 companies. Through its region-wide network of local offices, Workforce Solutions served more than 410,000 individuals, helping more than 200,000 people go to work or get a better job, including almost 20,000 welfare recipients; 34,000 veterans; and 4,000 ex-offenders. Workforce Solutions supported early education and care for 30,000 children through financial aid to their parents and guardians, and it spent more than $115 million in financial aid for all of its customers, helping them go to school, buy clothing or tools to go to work, and pay for transportation needs and child care expenses.
