Blog Post: Bookkeepers ~ read this blog!

posted Saturday, October 10, 2009 7:03 PM

If you are a bookkeeper (or a business owner) and struggling with debits and credits, you need to visit my website. Every business transaction you make is a two sided entry. Yes, you need a debit and credit so the transaction balances. If you are using software for your bookkeeping, you still need to know debits and credits. Why? What you enter in your software is what it gives back. If you classify an entry the wrong way, it will give you wrong information. Not all income is true income; not all disbursements are true expenses. If you are manually preparing statements, you still need this information. Many people refer to themselves as “bookkeepers” but when put to the test, they fail. There is more to bookkeeping than writing a check or making a deposit. Discover the fast, easy, fun way to learn how to be a whiz at debits and credits in just a few hours. There are several organizations that can help you to become certified or just learn more about bookkeeping. Bookkeeping can take you from day to day transactions to preparing the tax return. Visit my website for more information.

I have a questions, I have a degree in finance and minor in accounting. While in school, I enjoyed analyzing financial statements. Currently, I'm taking a Quickbook class in MD to improve my knowledge in bookkeeping. My question is how easy it is to get an entry level job with a quickbook knowledge in accounting field.

Richard,
Now is the perfect time for you to apply with accounting firms. With your background and knowledge of QuickBooks you should be able to easily find an entry level job. I suggest accounting fims (or CPA office) because you would learn every step of small business finance; set up chart of accounts, bank reconciliations, general ledger, account reconciliations, assets management, financial statement preparation, tax returns, and more. I was in public accounting for many years, loved it and actually miss the variety of the work. Most small businesses ask years of bookkeeping experience + QuickBooks. It's all about debits and credits! Stay in contact and let me know how you do. I'm offering short 4 hour workshops so. Visit my website.
