Blog Post: Increase your Marketability by Joining a Professional Association

During these uncertain economic times, one must use all resources available and wisely.  One of the best ways to increase your ability to market yourself during a job search is to join a professional group directly related to the industry you plan to enter.  Joining an association will provide you with more credibility and can prove crucial with respect to making new contacts.  Some of these contacts may be extremely beneficial in helping you land your next job.

Here are some other benefits:

• Participate in continuing education workshops/seminars geared towards your profession
• Learn new industry trends and standards
• Meet/network with individuals who may be experts in their fields
• Grow professionally and personally
• Share ideas with others
• Opportunities to volunteer often exist
• Make new friends and have fun

As you can read above, there are a number of reasons why getting involved in a professional network can be advantageous.  My very own personal experience has been such that I have made several career advancements.  Looking forward, the sky is the limit, but it is up to you!
