Blog Post: A Thank You Note.. Old School and Very Effective
posted Friday, January 30, 2009 3:30 PM
So a company you'd really like to work for has contacted you, the interview went well, now what?
In the age of enews, email, evites, e-everything.. it would be a great idea to write a hand written thank you note to the interviewer, thanking them for their time. Small thank you cards are very inexpensive and I encourage you to purchase a pack of 20 or so. You have the interviewers address because you asked for one of their business cards at the end of your interview (hint hint). Immediately upon returning home, write a short, concise note that does these two things: - Thanks them for the opportunity to meet with you. - Expresses that, after the interview, you are still very interested in the job and look forward to hearing back from them. Remember, though, this is a thank you not a cover letter. Keep it short and to the point; 2-3 sentences should suffice. We've all become spell-check dependent, so watch your grammar and spelling! Get the note in the mail ASAP. You never know.. it may be this one attention to detail that puts you above the rest of the applicants and lands you the job. Good Luck.
