Blog Post: How Do I Become A Teacher...in Waller?
posted Monday, January 12, 2009 3:10 PM
Having worked in both the corporate sector as well as education as a Human Resources professional, I have developed a unique perspective regarding the transition from the corporate world to teaching. It is wonderful to watch new teachers enter the classroom and see them skillfully weave their experiences in corporate America into their lesson plans for our students.
There may be some of you reading this blog who are tinkering with the notion of changing vocations. If so, education is an excellent field. If you can affirmatively answer the question, "Can I develop great relationships with kids?", then I suggest you explore teaching as your possible calling in life. So how does one become a teacher in Texas? First, here are the "nuts and bolts" necessary to obtain your teaching certification in Texas: A Bachelor degree, acceptance to an approved teacher training program, and passing the appropriate certification tests for the grade level and subject you'd like to teach. Here's a great link on how to become a teacher in Texas. http://www.sbec.state.tx.us/SBECOnline/certinfo/becometeacher.asp?width=1400&height=1050 If you take these steps to become a teacher, or are on your way, may I suggest you consider Waller Independent School District as your education home? To learn more about our warm, friendly schools and staff, as well as our peaceful, country living, please visit our website at www.wallerisd.net . Waller will also host a job fair for teachers on April 18th...if you have taken steps listed above to become a teacher, please come and meet the leaders on our campuses...here is the link to our Teacher Job Fair: http://www.wallerisd.net/hr/Teacher%20Job%20Fair.htm Feel free to call me with any questions...and my very best to each one of you!!!
