Blog Post: JOB SEARCH - WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT
posted Tuesday, January 6, 2009 8:01 PM
This is a new year and look forward down your career path. If you are in a job search, remember these particular words of advice:
(1) Most importantly, be ready! Update your resume, references and your interview attire. It is amazing to me when applicants call and say they are desperate for a job but do not have any of these necessities updated and ready. (2) Connect with new job boards, job care groups and recruiters. Yes, it is important to network with former co-workers, friends and family but it is mandatory to step out of your comfort zone. Remember the saying "Nothing ventured is nothing gained." (3) Plan your day and use some type of planner either computer, paper or calendar. Finding a job is your current job. (4) Be positive in your correspondence, cover letters and interviews. Your first impression can only be first once. (5) Be persistent and always ask what the next step is. Decision makers expect questions. Best wishes in 2009. Jo Schorp, Owner
