Blog Post: 'Tis the Season... For a Seasonal Job.
posted Monday, December 1, 2008 4:58 PM
OK, so Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means only one thing: It's Christmas shopping season. If nothing else, Black Friday marked the beginning of that insane time of year when people spend a ton of dough on gifts for friends and family. How we came to celebrate this special time of year in this manner I'll never know; the important thing is this: people are shopping and retailers need seasonal staff.
It's not too late to secure a seasonal gig for the 2008 season. Even in a somewhat sluggish economy, people still came out in droves this past Friday; and all forecasts show that this is a trend likely to continue right up to December 24th. If you are unemployed and looking, a seasonal job may be a great way to earn some extra cash to sustain you through the rest of the year. If you are so fortunate to have a job, retailers hire folks part time. Who couldn't use the extra money? Houston is a big place with a lot of big shopping centers. The obvious place to being would be shopping malls.. and we certainly don't have a shortage in that arena. Check these out by visiting their homepage: DO NOT be discouraged if you don't have retail experience. At this point all you really need is a positive attitude and an ability to work under pressure (it will get busy). When you get an interview, sell yourself with those skills. Act quickly and get that seasonal job this week! Best of luck!
