Blog Post: The Housing & Employment Resources Expo for People with Disabilities is September 18th!

On the heels of Houston being named the country’s most accessible city for people with
disabilities, the city is poised to host the second annual housing and employment expo,
September 18th, 9:00-3:00 at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Those with disabilities will have the opportunity to meet with prospective employers, as well
as representatives from various housing related entities and other resource agencies.
Last year’s event attracted over 1,000 participants and over 100 employers and nonprofit
organizations.  Jobing.com is a proud sponsor of this first class event!

Employers will be able to tap into a pool of prospective employees as well as informing
them about programs and services specifically designed to meet their needs.
Free workshops and exhibitor booths will provide information for people with disabilities on
such topics as:

• Home Ownership
• Landlord/Tenant Rights
• When and how to ask for reasonable accommodations from an employer
• Starting Your Own Business
• How work affects your SSI, SSDI, Medicare, and Medicaid
• Public Housing/Section 8, Accessible/Affordable
• Home Accessibility and Repair Programs
