Blog Post: Know Your Stuff... BEFORE The Interview
posted Monday, June 9, 2008 5:05 PM
A much overlooked but very important step in preparing for an interview is to spend some time researching the potential employer company. This will set you apart from others who walk in without doing the proper preparation. It will also allow you to have some intelligent and well thought out questions prepared for your interviewer and help you determine whether the job, corporate culture, management style, etc. are a fit for you.
It is a good idea to do some research on the companies that most interest you before you attend a job fair. It is impressive when you hand someone your resume and comment on their latest press release or ask a question that shows that you have done your homework. Think about the impression this makes as opposed to walking up to the recruiter and asking "So, what does your company do?" Anything that will help you to approach the interview with more self assurance will help you be more confident and natural when talking with the hiring manager.
