RESPONSIBILITIES The Segment Vice President functions as the strategic sales and marketing leader for all growth in a specific segment. The Segment Vice President is the strategic and tactical voice of the segment customer. He or she will also assist in developing the sales structure, compensation plan, reporting mechanisms, and sales training for the segment-based sales organization. This individual will be in charge of sales, marketing, and strategy for this business segment with over 250 employees. With responsibility of the Retail/Food Service Segment organization this individual will: * Function as the strategic sales and marketing leader for all growth in a specific segment. * Function as the strategic and tactical voice of the segment customer. Assist in developing the sales structure, compensation plan, reporting mechanisms, and sales training for the segment-based sales organization. * Work closely with operations and other Segment Vice Presidents to develop value propositions for individual segments to make certain that service can be provided to meet the needs of the customer segment. * Drive the organization (sales, operations, customer service, billing, etc.) to change to meet the customers' needs. * Lead segment sales managers who are responsible for new business, retaining current customers, and managing pricing for all customers within the segment. Reviews and assists each sales manager with sales and marketing plans for the segment. * Promote communication and coordination within the sales organization across all segments by compiling and analyzing segment sales data to provide trend data to the area and above a real sales forces. * Maintain corporate level segment contacts of existing and potential customers. * Work with all tiers of the sales organization to drive revenue generating marketing programs for the segment. * Ensure all segment sales messages and marketing communications are consistent. * Drive the growth and financial performance of the segment. * Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans and programs, both short and long range, to support sales and revenue objectives within the segment. * Develop and recommend product/service positioning, and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share. * Monitor and analyze sales results against program projections. Communicate progress to senior management. * Coordinate and communicates with Sales Leaders, Groups and Areas. * Manage operating budget to maximize utilization of budget dollars. * Delivery of annual revenue faster than GDP, gross margin, & customer count. * Strong financial acumen as well as strong analytical skills in business metrics and forecast modeling. * Can quickly design realistic action plans to effect change and effectively assign and manage task to accomplish goals. * Uses technology including sales software and information technology to better manage and grow the business. * Understands the total delivery of service to customers. * Broad understanding of the industry. KEY DECISIONS MADE * Take charge of sales, marketing, and strategy for a segment. * Develop and integrate the segment plans and strategies into an overall Customer Service Delivery plan to achieve maximum output and contribution for the corporate strategy. * Develop and implement sales and marketing activities for the segment in the following areas: sales training, trade shows, collateral material, and advertising. * Champion a clear channel of communication and coordination between functional counterparts in the business units. * Develop and implement new sales and marketing programs for the segment to achieve growth in the segment. THE INDIVIDUAL Required Education: Bachelor's Degree, Marketing or similar area of study a plus. Preferred Education: MBA Preferred Experience: * 15+ years business experience including sales, marketing, strategy and management experience. * Demonstrated successful leadership within a Fortune 500 environment. * Led transition from geographic to customer centric selling organization. * Experienced at all sales levels using a consultative sales approach. * Has sold and marketed services. * Provided customers with seamless sales and service. * Worked internally to facilitate changes in systems and processes to support customers; Has quickly evaluated a large, complex system and identified problems and solutions. * Demonstrated excellence in overall execution and leadership. * Experience in articulating the business and product strategies to the field and organization, emphasizing the strategic importance of the various products, systems and services. * Utilized appropriate levers, e.g. sales plan and/or training to meet strategic goals. * Has successfully hired senior team and track record of mentorship. * Experience with various sales channels and partnerships.
