DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The General Accounting section of the Finance Department provides accounting policy and procedure support for all City Departments. The highly skilled accounting position will prepare financial statements, financial analysis, and account reconciliation along with reviewing and improving the City's internal controls. This includes preparing and running SAP reports to monitor City finances. Coordinates with City Departments and auditors to support annual audit; developing and reviewing internal audits and review procedures. Develops, monitors, analyzes, and updates various reports, records, projects and plans. Responsible for monitoring and implementing line-item projections for specific accounts. Provide fixed asset policy and guidance support to City Departments. May participate in special accounting projects as needed. Also performs other duties requested by division and department head.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six years of professional experience in finance, economics, budget analysis or a closely related field is required.

A Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a closely related field may be substituted for two years of the above experience requirement.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Require a valid driver's license in compliance with AP 2- 2. PREFERENCES: Basic project management skills. Excellent analytical and mathematics capabilities. Proven experience with SAP, fixed assets, funds management, financial accounting and reporting functions. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
