GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for ensuring the successful management of credit risk. Specific areas of responsibility include management of successful achievement of all credit matrices, operational goals and objectives; ensuring credit policies and procedure consistency within the credit department; preserving a work atmosphere in which analysts are self-directed, while maintaining a team-based attitude; promoting a thorough understanding of all the customized vendor or niche driven programs, and their individual nuances to appropriate personnel; encouraging close relationships between operations and sales departments, in order to produce profitable products for the bank; preparing and presenting credit packages with appropriate recommendations to review committees, as well as participating in the review of transactions exceeding approval authorities of other analysts.

Skills / Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Active in the development, implementation and maintenance of uniform credit policies and procedures to ensure consistency and enhance external and internal customer satisfaction
  • Active in the assessment of annual credit goals and objectives in order to optimize utilization of human and financial resources and in order to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction and achieve corporate financial goals.
  • Work closely with the senior executives on all business opportunities and issues related to credit policies and credit decisions.
  • Coordinate the communication between the sales team, potential customers, and review committee for credit, underwriting and funding related issues.
  • Initiate, complete, and submit, on an accurate and timely basis, credit-related reports and documentation in order to maintain the established business processes and assist the origination channels and the company itself in achieving business goals and objectives.
  • Review and analyze credit information in order to make appropriate credit decisions within the established policy manuals.
  • Interact with the different sources and salesmen.
  • Work in conjunction with the appropriate managers and executives to support each business unit's performance goals and service standards.
  • Provide input and feedback to executive management regarding credit decisions on specific transactions.
  • Provide feedback that may lead to additional requests of system enhancements to our credit metrics, vendor tracking, and reporting needs, insuring that the requests are completed and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Participate in outsourced ongoing training and education offered by contracted services (such as compliance) and professional membership organizations (such as RMA)
  • Other projects/duties as needed to meet the needs of the business

  • INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
  • Management presentations, cash flow analysis, problem resolutions, and communication of credit policies and procedures.
  • Sales Personnel - Coordination of vendor programs, channel of origination feedback
  • Documentation/Funding Personnel - Coordination of processes, portfolio performance concerns, and best practices
  • Customer Service/Collections Personnel- Coordination of Transfer and Assumptions, portfolio performance feedback


  • REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Finance is preferred
  • Minimum seven years experience in commercial/bank underwriting
  • Strong analytical skills in calculating numerous financial ratios
  • Strong understanding of personal and business credit reports
  • Experience with Fair Isaac credit models is preferred
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Formal bank underwriting training experience is preferred
  • Update and maintain vendor reviews, and large customer exposures concentrations confirming that the appropriate committees have approved, and obtain updated financial information and revisit existing large customers and program concentrations for re-approval on a consistent basis
  • Participate in meetings with other units/departments to provide input and improve the process
