DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Actively monitor thoroughfares and intersections throughout the city to identify and rectify faulty or inefficient traffic signal light timing and sequencing. Actively seek-out, remedy and report roadway hazards that may impede the normal flow of traffic. This may include but not limited to the following: potholes, missing storm grates, damaged or altered roadway signage, line of sight obstructions at intersections, low tree branches, and impaired drivers. Actively perform tasks such as submitting and retrieving scooters, and vehicles for repairs and professional maintenance; data entry on PRE; monitoring from TranStar and any other duties necessary in order to serve the public and/or the Houston Police Department. Safely operates scooter as a primary means of transportation. Also, operates vehicle as a secondary means of transportation. Respond to non-freeway locations throughout the city suffering significant acute traffic congestion in order to manually direct and expedite the flow of vehicular traffic. Respond to minor non-freeway traffic accidents and issue State of Texas Driver's Crash Reports (Blue Forms-CRB-2). Also, issue non-moving citations as needed. Assist citizens when needed such as giving directions etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The position requires occasional heavy lifting, such as moving road construction barrels and lifting scooter (up to 75 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required. ALL WORK TO BE OUTSIDE IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS.

Skills / Requirements
MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or a GED.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Must have prior experience operating a moped, motor scooter or motorcycle.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Texas Class "M" driver's license and comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2). MUST POSSESS A CLASS "M" DRIVER'S LICENSE AT TIME OF APPLICATION. Must be a minimum of 5'4" and weight in proportion to height. PREFERENCES: PREFERENCES
Preference may be given to applicants with prior experience operating a moped, motor scooter or motorcycle. Preference will be given to applicants that possess a Class "M" motorcycle license for at lease six (6) months. Preference will also be given to applicants with one (1) year of related work experience, preferably in a law enforcement agency. GENERAL INFORMATION: SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED As part of the selection process, selected applicants must bring and demonstrate their ability to operate a motor scooter/motorcycle over a course designated to evaluate basic motor scooter or motorcycle riding skills. Applicant's motor scooter/motorcycle must be 400cc minimum and street legal.
